SUMMARY:Traces
DESCRIPTION:Kitty Wales: Traces\nNovember 9 – February 8\, 2026\nReception: November 9\, 2025\, 1:00 – 4:00 pm\n \nDomestic table settings\, disassembled furniture and recycled wood are the building blocks of these narrative assemblages. They contain memories that morph over time shifting in and out of the original thread\, leaving traces of the past. \nThis subject matter began in 2019 after studying Mesoamerican codices on a visit to the Anthropology Museum in Mexico City. As painted manuscripts\, they document bloodlines\, history\, science\, and sacred rituals of Mayan and Aztec rulers. Within tight frameworks\, these colorful pictorial languages are activated by symbols and characters. I loosely borrowed that format of recorded history to build beginning stages into storied landscapes. \nDiscarded objects have always been materials of choice in my work\, making use of what we leave behind.  Within each wall construction are fabricated household objects serving as historical icons\, reanimating the memories they retain. Altered purposely in their construction\, these crockeries and vessels still represent potential utility and purpose despite their misshapen appearance. \nEach piece in this series evolves through the process of making and\nexperimenting\, as I build up multiple layers of color and texture with mixed media and paper pulp. Some of these layers are visible while others are buried\, erased\, or altered to mimic the shifting nature of narrative memory.

SUMMARY:20 Walks
DESCRIPTION:Lin Lisberger:\n20 Walks\nat the Duxbury Art Complex \nNovember 15\, 2026 – February 14\, 2027\nReception: Sunday\, November 15\, 2026\, 1:00 – 4:00 pm \n\nLin Lisberger has always been interested in combining abstraction and narrative in her work. 20 Walks references the physical memory of her own walks in places at home and around the world. Each piece captures a sense of place along with the memory of a particular personal moment or sight\, evoking a recollection\, not telling all the details. This form of abstraction keeps the pieces simpler\, more elegant\, and hopefully visceral\, while always keeping form essential.

SUMMARY:"A Quiet Wild" Savage Godfrey Gallery
DESCRIPTION:A Quiet Wild: Morgan Dyer\, Mallie Loring Pratt\, Aron Leaman\nNovember 21st – January 30th\, 2025\, at the Savage Godfrey Gallery\n\n\n\n  \nA Quiet Wild\, an exhibition of paintings by Morgan Dyer and Mallie Loring Pratt\, and glass sculptures by Aron Leaman. Each of these artists works on the Northshore and the exhibition will offer a fresh take on our shared coastline. \nThe artists will attend the opening reception at the Gallery on Friday\, November 21st from 6-8 pm. To further our mission to promote art and artists in our community\, the Gallery will host a panel discussion featuring the exhibiting artists on Sunday\, January 11th from 1-3 pm. \nMorgan Dyer pours pools of pigment onto canvas to mimic natural forms such as puddles\, moving tides\, and melting ice. The resulting ribbons of intertwining pigment and texture create energetic fields of color that evoke movement and transformation. Each work prompts the viewer to reflect on the dynamic relationship between nature and abstraction. She has a painting studio and gallery on Rockport’s historic Bear Skin Neck. \nMallie Loring Pratt works from observation and memory to explore the sensory and emotional experience of place. Her paintings often serve as records of change: in light\, in land\, and in ourselves. The works on display will be “off-season” landscapes that capture the muted beauty\, subtle transitions\, and overlooked moments that define the coast’s quieter months. Three of her large-scale paintings are currently on display at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art’s Biennial. She co-runs a studio collective in Ipswich\, MA. \nBirds are a recurring subject for Aron Leaman\, serving as a symbol of home and connection to nature. His handblown glass herons draw viewers into moments of quiet wonder inspired by the colors and intricate patterns found in nature. Each bird is an artful combination of glass\, stainless armature\, and stone\, appearing effortlessly balanced. Through material\, color\, and form\, he invites viewers to ponder how each bird was made. He currently works in Lowell\, where he founded Mill City Glass Works\, a studio dedicated to innovative glass art and community workshops \n\n(Artists from left to right in header artwork\, Aron Leaman – Sandy Isles\, Mallie Loring Pratt – September Swim\, Morgan Dyer – Wind) \n\n\n\n\n  \nSavage Godfrey Gallery\, 693 Main Street\, Norwell\, MA 02061 www.savagegodfrey.com\n@savagegodfreygallery\nContact: Christina Godfrey\, Director\, christina@savagegodfrey.com (508) 667-1062 \n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:"Fantastic Plastic"
DESCRIPTION:Fantastic Plastic\nby Donna Goes\nOn display at the Helen Bumpus Gallery of the Duxbury Free Library \nArtist’s Statement\nMy art begins with plastic bags and mesh produce sacks\, materials once destined for the landfill\, which I transform into layered compositions. Fused with heat and reworked through cutting\, layering\, and stitching\, these once-disposable materials are reborn as textured\, vibrant\, and playful images that shift between the abstract and the familiar. I love the idea that I can turn waste into something lovely to look at while rescuing a little waste from the landfill. \nIn addition to working with fused plastic\, I explore collage\, assemblage\, painting\, papier-mâché\, surface design and jewelry. You can see more of my work at Luckylifestudio.com \nAbout the Artist\nDonna Goes has exhibited widely across the South Shore\, including two recent solo shows: A Curious Mind at the South Shore Conservatory (2025) and Bags to Riches at the Paul Pratt Memorial Library (2023). Her work has also been featured in two-person exhibitions at Linden Ponds Art Gallery and the Dolphin & Clemen Galleries. Recognized for both innovation and craft\, Donna has received numerous awards\, including Best in Show at the Hull Lifesaving Museum’s Sea & Sky Juried Art Show (2023)\, multiple First Place and First Award Mixed Media honors from the Scituate Arts Association and Duxbury Art Association\, as well as distinctions from the South Shore Art Center and Hull Artists. \nAs a graduate of Massachusetts College of Art and Design\, Donna spent much of her career as a toy designer for Hasbro before turning to her current medium: recycled plastic bags. Her artistic expression transforms ordinary plastic bags—materials destined for the landfill—into richly layered abstractions. \nA year-round resident of Hull since 2011\, Donna is an active member of Hull Artists\, South Shore Art Center\, North River Arts Society\, Scituate Arts Association\, Plymouth Center for the Arts and Duxbury Art Association. She shares her home studio and love of art with her husband\, Paul. \nWebsite: Luckylifestudio.com \nInstagram: @lucky_life_studio \n

SUMMARY:Wanderings through Gardens and Woods - Suzette Lebenzon
DESCRIPTION: North River Arts Presents \n“Wandering through the Garden and Woods”\n  \n  Join us in celebration of Suzette Lebenzon with “Wanderings through the Gardens and Woods” at the Jeanne Horan Gallery at Ventress Memorial Library on display January 10 – February 28.  \nArtist Statement: \nOver the past few years\, I have continued on my painting journey\, allowing myself complete license to create the images that interest me and evolve through my process. Exploring reflective water surfaces and their surrounds of vegetation and woods\, has captivated me. My paintings are my visual poems\, expressing my wishes\, feelings\, and experiences on Cape Cod and around the South Shore where I grew. Color is my love language. I’ve embraced bold\, expressive marks. I am not concerned with an accurate representative depiction of a specific place\, but strive to document my memory of a particular walk or locale. The intimacy and peace in the woods delight me. The chaos of an unkept garden draws me in. I use predominantly acrylic paint\,  with some inks\, pencil and collage materials.
