SUMMARY:20 Walks
DESCRIPTION:Lin Lisberger:\n20 Walks\nat the Duxbury Art Complex \nNovember 15\, 2026 – February 14\, 2027\nReception: Sunday\, November 15\, 2026\, 1:00 – 4:00 pm \n\nLin Lisberger has always been interested in combining abstraction and narrative in her work. 20 Walks references the physical memory of her own walks in places at home and around the world. Each piece captures a sense of place along with the memory of a particular personal moment or sight\, evoking a recollection\, not telling all the details. This form of abstraction keeps the pieces simpler\, more elegant\, and hopefully visceral\, while always keeping form essential.

SUMMARY:Scenes of the Sea
DESCRIPTION:Scenes of the Sea: \nAmerican Paintings from the Collection\nat the Duxbury Art Complex Museum\nMay 10 – September 6\, 2026\nReception: Sunday\, May 17\, 2026\, 1:00 – 4:00 pm \n\nFor centuries\, the American coastline has provided artistic inspiration as well as a retreat for painters. Whether working en plein aire\, instructing students\, or spending time with their families\, many American artists used their time by the ocean to recapture their creative muse. \nIn the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries\, as industrialization reshaped the American landscape\, its coastal regions offered respite\, as well as opportunity to explore new subject matter. Artists were drawn to the shore’s dramatic beauty and light\, and the dynamic\, tumultuous ocean. Artists in this intimate exhibit include George Bellows\, Ture Bengtz\, Albert Bierstadt\, Jasper Cropsey\, J.J. Enneking\, Childe Hassam\, Charles Woodbury and more.

The print is on view in the Founders Room\, acquired by purchase from the artist in 2014.

SUMMARY:Summer Social : Savage Godfrey Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Savage Godfrey Gallery presents\nA Summer Social: \nKarla Hunter\, Lisa Daria Kennedy\, Amy Ross\nJune 12th – September 18th\, 2026\nOpening Reception: Friday\, June 12\, 6–8 P\n\n\n\nGallery/Exhibition info:\nThe beauty of the golden hour\, the infamous characters in a seasonal town\, flirting with a new crush… A Summer Social evokes the nostalgia of endless summer days through paintings by Karla Hunter and Lisa Daria Kennedy\, and collages by Amy Ross. The opening reception will be on Friday\, June 12\, from 6-8 pm. All three of the artists will be in attendance\, so you can swap your own summer stories with them over a glass of wine! Cue the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. \nMaking a name for herself in the South Shore art community and beyond\, Karla Hunter paints scenes of everyday life and\, in this exhibition\, the good life. Her paintings celebrate small moments that we treasure for a lifetime. Gilded paintings of Summer tablescapes and cocktails will grace the gallery walls\, along with a few of her signature coastal scenes. These cheeky compositions often spill out onto their charming\, upcycled frames. Karla lives in Cohasset\, MA\, and is continually inspired by her life there. Her studio is at the Wright Building in Rockland\, MA. \nYet There We Are is a study of leisure\, mined from still frames of found 8mm home movies. These narrative paintings by Lisa Daria Kennedy are anchored in two moments: the instant something is compelling enough to film\, and the instant that moment ends and the camera is set down. Her source material comprises 800 ft of film that spans a seemingly endless survey of one family’s favorite moments. Lisa teaches at Massachusetts College of Art. She lives in Higham\, MA\, where she paints in her studio overlooking World’s End. \nThis is the second exhibition of Amy Ross’ collages at the Savage Godfrey Gallery. Ross combines unexpected elements to create fantastical hybrid creatures using traditional cut-and- paste techniques. The sea is especially suited to surrealist collage. From sirens to the Kraken\, people have imagined deep-sea creatures as mysterious and otherworldly. Ross arranges her creatures as though they’re participating in a choreographed dance. The compositions possess a delightful retro whimsy and subtle humor akin to Alice in Wonderland. Ross’ collages have been reproduced in Vogue\, Target’s “Artist in Residence” home collection\, and on multiple book and cookbook covers. Amy Ross lives and works in Watertown\, MA. \n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Honoring Earth from Above
DESCRIPTION:The Helen Bumpus Gallery\nHonoring Earth from Above\nby Margot Cheel\n\nOn Display for the months of July and August\nArtist Statement\n \nAs a pilot\, photographer and artist\, I create images to evoke a spirit of place. \nWith the perspective from above\, I offer a sense of the beauty\, breadth and interconnection of earth\, sea and sky. The patterns and shapes from the aerial view – not seen from the land – come with surprise and delight. As I move through the air with my camera and aircraft\, I capture the flow\, color and depth of coastlines\, marshes\, rivers and land with their unique meetings and forms. My images welcome you to landscapes of ever-changing beauty and even valuable lessons\, showcasing nature’s ways. \nThrough my fine art aerial photography\, I aim to inspire an awareness of the beauty and fragility of our earth so to honor its significance\, meaning and long -term preservation. \nMargot Cheel\n114 Margin Ct.\nCohasset\, MA\nwww.margotcheel.com \n

SUMMARY:Sitting Pretty
DESCRIPTION:   Hingham Library’s Dolphin Gallery presents\n“Sitting Pretty”\na collection of works from Joanne Chittick\n  \nJoAnne Chittick has an exhibit of chair paintings in oil and watercolor\, “Sitting Pretty” at the Hingham Public Library’s Dolphin Gallery. It includes a series of 7×7″ oils done on handmade papers\, as well as a number of other larger works.  The show will be at the library for the entire month of August\, ending 8/27.  Hours are Monday though Thursday from 10am till 9pm and on Saturdays from  9am till 5pm\, closed Fridays and Sundays.  Take a look\, and take a seat \nAbout the Artist\n“I have been painting in watercolor for many years\, in oils for the last ten. Local workshops include study with Ros Farbush\, Mary Lizotte\, Virginia Avery\, William Ternes\, and Frank Webb\, and with Tony van Hasselt\, Skip Lawrence\, and Betty Lou Schlemm on the Maine coast.  My work in oils has been fueled by study with Peter Schroth\, George Nick\, Susan Charles\, Jon Imber\, and Margaret McWethy. \nI am a Signature Member of the New England Watercolor Society\, an Artist Member of the Copley Society of Art\, Boston\, and a juried Gallery Artist of the South Shore Art Center and the Cambridge Art Association. \nMy work has been exhibited in numerous solo shows in the Boston and South Shore area\, and every year I exhibit paintings in a variety of juried and group shows. I have been featured in South Shore Living magazine\, the Boston Globe\, and the Patriot Ledger; the Boston Bar Association and Hill House of Beacon Hill have chosen to publish work as cover art for their publications; Rosie’s Place (Boston) selected two pieces for holiday cards.  My paintings hang in private collections throughout Europe and the U.S. (including those of Steve Wynn\, Keith Lockhart\, and the office of the mayor of Boston). Paintings have been chosen for the Langham Hotel\, Boston and the new JetBlue lounge at Logan Airport. \nMy specialty is house portraits.  In these popular commissioned architecture paintings\, I try to capture the distinctive character of a home\, working with the owner (or gift giver) to include important details of the building and its surroundings.” \nhttps://www.joannechittick.com/ \n
