It will be in the Dolphin Gallery at the Library in Hingham\, MA from Saturday June 27 to Thursday July 30.\n \nThe opening reception is on Thursday\, July 2\, 5:30 to 7:30. \n    Jory is a Master level pastel artist exhibiting in Italy\, Boston\, New York\, North Carolina\, and New Mexico. Her work has been showcased in “ART Tour International 2019” and in “Strokes of Genius 8: Exploring Texture! ” by North Light Books. \n    She is an enthusiastic teacher at the Plymouth Center for the Arts\, and enjoys traveling to give workshops. She has won countless national and international awards and is an experienced juror of awards. Jory has been an art director/graphic designer for decades and also focuses on painting expressive impressionistic fine art in a variety of subject matters and mediums. \n

DESCRIPTION:North River Arts presents\nOutside the Box 2026\nCall For Art\nJune 1st through July 30th\n  \nOutside the Box is back! Long-time members and friends of North River Arts may be familiar with our biennial event\, “Outside the Box.” Thinking Outside the Box is thinking freely\, not bound by old rules or practices. This exhibit encourages North River Arts artists & friends to do that by creating art outside their usual medium or style. We wanted to reach out to anyone (15 years of age or older to enter) who would like to participate in our upcoming event – anyone from ANY town\, not just from Kingston. This is a FREE event open to the public where each artist is invited to submit one (1) piece only for display; it is our hope that we may accommodate up to 75 artists in this Festival.  Scan the QR code in the image above to submit artwork for this event. \n\nDROP-OFF:\n\nThursday May 7th\, 5-7pm: \n\nArtists drop off pieces at Hope Floats\n\n\n\n\nFriday May 8th: \n\nInstallation of pieces in Beal House\, Adams Center and Faunce House\n\n\nSaturday May 9th\, 11am-3pm: Arts Festival!\nPICK-UP:\n\nMay 9th (Same Day) 3-4pm: \n\nArtists come back to pick up pieces from each venue\n\n\n\n\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Holding Ground: Nancy Cloonan\, Deborah Howard\, Ilana Manolson\nApril 10th – June 7th\, 2026\n  \n\n\n\n\n     This April\, Savage Godfrey Gallery presents Holding Ground\, a three-artist exhibition exploring the relationship between landscape\, memory\, and place through the distinct practices of Nancy Cloonan\, Deborah Howard\, and Ilana Manolson.Together\, their work reflects a shared commitment to observing and honoring the environments that shape both their practice and perspective. \nNancy Cloonan’s paintings translate the overlooked details of daily life into layered\, abstract compositions that feel both familiar and elusive. Reason being\, she pulls shape and pattern from photographs taken during daily walks throughout Plymouth County. Picket fences\, asphalt patches\, and reflective puddles are translated into colorful forms\, combined and layered into Cloonan’s wonderfully inviting abstractions. Nancy Cloonan lives and paints in Plymouth\, MA. \nThrough a process of painting\, wiping\, and sanding\, Howard builds quiet\, layered landscapes that reflect the shifting light and atmosphere of Cape Cod’s marshes and tidal flats. Her restrained compositions reveal depth through subtle mark-making\, where traces of underpainting and gesture remain visible beneath the surface. Deborah Howard lives and paints in Barnstable\, MA. \nWhen Ilana Manolson stands before a plant to paint it\, she brings with her a rare double vision — that of the artist and the botanist. This layered perspective infuses her paintings with both visual poetry and scientific attentiveness\, revealing the quiet complexity of the natural world. Manolson’s work is rooted in the cyclical rhythms of the wetlands that surround her home in Concord\, MA. Her compositions center on native plant life\, tracing moments of growth and transition with a sensitivity to the larger systems these plants inhabit. \nThe opening reception of Holding Ground will be on Friday\, May 8th from 6-8 pm\, Nancy Cloonan\, Deborah Howard and Ilana Manolson will be in attendance.
