Our 71st Arts Festival will recenter our focus on art\, our craft exhibitors and our community.  SSAC installs about 400 original artworks each year in our Festival Juried\, Members’ and Young Artists’ Shows.\nNearly 100 local crafters will be there showcasing their art and crafts along with Live Music\, Food\, and the Members show exhibits.  It’s Event filled holiday weekend that you shouldn’t miss out on\, make sure to mark your calendar.

DESCRIPTION:The Duxbury Art Center present \nInterpreting the Natural:\nContemporary Visions of Scholars’ Rocks\nSeptember 20\, 2026 – January 17\, 2027\nReception: Sunday\, September 20\, 2026\, 1:00 – 4:00 pm \n\nGuest Curator\, Donna Dodson\, brings together ten artists whose\npractices engage with the ancient Chinese tradition of appreciating\nnaturally occurring stones as vessels of contemplation\, metaphor\, and\nimaginative space. The exhibition explores how today’s artists\nreinterpret the spirit of scholars’ rocks through a range of materials\,\nscales\, and conceptual approaches. \nRather than replicating historical forms\, the featured works consider how nature is shaped; physically\, culturally\, and spiritually. Some artists emphasize geological presence and raw materiality\, while others evoke symbolic landscapes\, cosmology\, or interior states. Together\, these contemporary responses extend a centuries-old dialogue between art and nature\, inviting\nviewers to slow down and recognize the power of the organic world to\nprompt reflection and wonder.
