Neuman\n  \n\n\n\n   Witness the coalescence of landscape painting and color theory in Dreamscape\, the Savage Godfrey Gallery’s winter exhibition. Surreal abstract compositions evoking memory\, emotion\, and connection by artists Dina Brennan\, Andrew Fish\, and Robert S. Neuman (1926-2015) will come together on our walls to cure your winter blues with an exceptionally vibrant visual spectacle. \nThe opening reception will be on Friday\, February 6th from 6-8 pm\, Dina Brennan and Andrew Fish will be in attendance. Our reception will coincide with the neighboring James Library Art Gallery’s reception for Just Passing Through. The reception will be followed by an Artist Talk on Sunday\, March 22nd from 1-3 pm featuring Dina and Andrew. \nBuilding on her first solo show Color Noise (2025)\, Dina Brennan’s showing will comprise a series of her expressive color studies. She paints them daily to capture the ever-changing New England seasons and patterns found in nature. The dazzling colors and textures in her works offer an invitation to feel and even hear the color with a wandering imagination. Dina paints in Quincy\, MA and curates exhibitions at the Frame Center Gallery in Hanover\, MA. \nAndrew Fish’s oil paintings feature moments of convergence. Abstraction meets representation\, while the borders between reality\, memory\, and dreams blur in a dramatic outpouring of color. The paintings selected for Dreamscape reference familiar scenes and experiences filtered through Fish’s abstracted lens. Fish paints at Mount Vernon Street Studios in Somerville\, MA\, and teaches at Mass Art and Lesley Art+Design. He exhibits his artwork throughout the country and abroad. \nKicking off the 2026 Robert S. Neuman Centennial Project\, Dreamscape will feature etchings from Neuman’s Ship to Paradise series. The series is a sharp\, modern take on Sebastian Brandt’s medieval “best-seller” Shype of Fooles\, chronicling topsy-turvy medieval barques—manned by literal skeleton crews—sailing on an existential sea in search of paradise. The Centennial Project is a year-long celebration of Neuman’s lifetime of art with multiple solo and group exhibitions throughout New England. As part of the Centennial Project\, the Art Complex in Duxbury\, MA is also exhibiting two Ship to Paradise prints and their plates. \n\n\n\n

I would like to inspire local residents to marvel at the colors all around them that they might take for granted\, whether it be an old mailbox\, shadows on the beach\, or a cranberry harvest in progress. My chosen medium is soft pastel on 400 grit sanded paper although I’ve worked in watercolor and acrylic. \nIt has been a particular joy to see my daughter Caitlin using her artistic talents in many ways – she chooses a subject and figures out how to turn it into a creative and beautiful gift for someone. Her results are amazing! \n

DESCRIPTION:The James Library Presents\nA Solo Exhibition:\n“What Remains Unsaid”\nA collection of figurative drawings by Robert Brodesky\n\nOpening Reception on Friday\, March 13 from 6-8 PM\nExibition: March 13 – April 25\, 2026\n    Enjoy the latest paintings by Robert Brodesky in a solo exhibition in the Concert Hall. Featuring a collection of large figurative paintings by the artist. \nRobert P. “Bob” Brodesky\, an artist based in the Boston-area\, has been painting all his life. He specializes in figurative painting in an expressionistic style\, rendered in oils\, paint stick or pastels on canvas\, paper\, and wood. He likes working big––a surface big enough to allow him to be expansive\, and physical. \nBrodesky’s work features human figures captured in a particular instant\, a pivotal moment when something changes. The viewer is invited to participate\, enter the moment\, and offer his or her own take on the situation and where it might lead. His style––expressive and gestural––focuses on the dynamics of human relationships\, and is drawn from his own personal experience.
