SUMMARY:Joanne Chittick: Sitting Pretty
DESCRIPTION:JoAnne Chittick: Sitting Pretty \nJoin us for an opening reception on October 6th from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the Copley Society of Art \nThe Copley Society of Art is proud to present Sitting Pretty\, a solo exhibition featuring the work of Co|So Artist Member JoAnne Chittick. The exhibition explores the theme of chairs and the story each one tells through their distinct character\, presence\, and history. The exhibition will be on view in the Lower Gallery Alcove from October 6th – November 5th\, 2022 at the Copley Society of Art\, located at 158 Newbury Street\, Boston\, MA. \nSitting Pretty is comprised of over 40 paintings thematically capturing these chairs’ stories through oil on handmade paper. JoAnne Chittick remarks that the series was inspired by one little yellow antique Swedish chair. “Its design\, color\, and rustic appeal was irresistible\, asking to be drawn and painted. As I looked around my house\, I realized that so many other chairs – soft\, welcoming gingham armchair; sturdy rocker on my studio porch; elegant living room wing chair; little wooden rockers  from the childhoods of my own children\, my mother\, an elderly friend — are each individuals with a special look\, character\, and presence.” – JoAnne Chittick

SUMMARY:Bending Reality
DESCRIPTION:Helen Bumpus Gallery\npresents\nLynne\nShackleton\nFord\nOctober/December 2022\nThis exhibit includes many examples of the real world being altered through Infrared\, digital painting\, lightbox transparency and studio photography.  While I still enjoy traditional landscape\, flower and nature photography\, I am drawn to the possibilities compositing offers to simply “create” and explore conceptual themes\, environments and emotion. \nPlease visit my website to see more of my work: www.lynneford.com \n

Gray\nKelley MacDonald\nMarguerite Moore\nChristine Peters\nALL ARE WELCOME\nPlease visit our website at Helenbumpusgallery.com\n  \nArtists’ Statement\nFollowing in the plein air tradition of painting the landscape from life\, a group of South Shore artists gather together every summer at a historic Back Cove farmhouse in Maine. In their own individual stye\, they each capture the unique beaty of the Maine landscape. \nReflecting their varied careers as art instructors\, painters and designers\, they offer their own unique perspective and vision to their interpretation of Mid-Coast Maine\, from the dramatic shores of Pemaquid Point to the light filled beauty of Christmas Cove. The camaraderie of painting together combined with their mutual love of the immediacy of the outdoor\, on location painting keeps this group of painters returning year after year to this much-loved location along the Maine Coast. \nContributing Artists\nJoreen Benbenek • www.joreenbenbenek.com \nMargaret Farrell Bruno • www.mfbruno.com \nPatricia M.
