DESCRIPTION:   Hingham Library’s Dolphin Gallery presents\n“Sitting Pretty”\na collection of works from Joanne Chittick\n  \nJoAnne Chittick has an exhibit of chair paintings in oil and watercolor\, “Sitting Pretty” at the Hingham Public Library’s Dolphin Gallery. It includes a series of 7×7″ oils done on handmade papers\, as well as a number of other larger works.  The show will be at the library for the entire month of August\, ending 8/27.  Hours are Monday though Thursday from 10am till 9pm and on Saturdays from  9am till 5pm\, closed Fridays and Sundays.  Take a look\, and take a seat \nAbout the Artist\n“I have been painting in watercolor for many years\, in oils for the last ten. Local workshops include study with Ros Farbush\, Mary Lizotte\, Virginia Avery\, William Ternes\, and Frank Webb\, and with Tony van Hasselt\, Skip Lawrence\, and Betty Lou Schlemm on the Maine coast.  My work in oils has been fueled by study with Peter Schroth\, George Nick\, Susan Charles\, Jon Imber\, and Margaret McWethy. \nI am a Signature Member of the New England Watercolor Society\, an Artist Member of the Copley Society of Art\, Boston\, and a juried Gallery Artist of the South Shore Art Center and the Cambridge Art Association. \nMy work has been exhibited in numerous solo shows in the Boston and South Shore area\, and every year I exhibit paintings in a variety of juried and group shows. I have been featured in South Shore Living magazine\, the Boston Globe\, and the Patriot Ledger; the Boston Bar Association and Hill House of Beacon Hill have chosen to publish work as cover art for their publications; Rosie’s Place (Boston) selected two pieces for holiday cards.  My paintings hang in private collections throughout Europe and the U.S. (including those of Steve Wynn\, Keith Lockhart\, and the office of the mayor of Boston). DESCRIPTION:North River Arts presents\nOutside the Box 2026\nCall For Art\nJune 1st through July 30th\n  \nOutside the Box is back! Long-time members and friends of North River Arts may be familiar with our biennial event\, “Outside the Box.” Thinking Outside the Box is thinking freely\, not bound by old rules or practices. This exhibit encourages North River Arts artists & friends to do that by creating art outside their usual medium or style. To make the auction even more intriguing\, artwork will be identified by number only. The artists’ names won’t be revealed until the silent auction ends\, challenging viewers to trust their instincts and bid on what they like. \n  \nArtists who want to participate can pick up a free panel at NRAS M-TH 9am-1pm or at the Frame Center of Hanover. \nThe Guidelines: \n\nUse the 8”x8” Gatorboard square provided by NRAS as the base of your work\nDo not sign your work\nDo not frame your work\nDo not mount your work onto or paint over the entry number on the back\nDeliver your artwork dry to the touch so it can be scanned at NRAS\n\nAround (200) 8”x8” gatorboards are donated from The Frame Center. Anyone interested in participating can pick up a gatorboard from the office during office hours Mondays – Thursdays 9am-1pm. \n\nDrop Off – July 30\, 6-8pm\, OR August 1\, 9am-11am \nOpening Party – August 8\, 6pm\nBidding Open/Gallery Open – August 8 – 28\, Mondays – Thursdays 9am-1pm and Sundays 12-2pm\nBidding Ends – August 28\, 12 noon\nArtist Reveal – August 31 – September 5 \nClosing Party – September 5\n\nSponsored by The Frame Center \n
