The seascape in this painting is the paragon of stillness. Unlike in other pieces within the Dory Collection, the water here is so still it perfectly mirrors the boat. The only sense of movement comes from the reflection of the navy blue trim on the starboard side, subtly hinting at the waves that should be on the surface of the water.
