As a self-taught artist, Chana first became acquainted with soft pastels in 2012. Unfortunately, her artistic journey was briefly interrupted when she was diagnosed with cancer later that same year. In 2014 she rekindled her love for pastels and went on to study with master pastelist Donna Rossetti-Bailey for more than five years. Chana’s hard work and dedication paid off: she earned membership in the Pastel Society of America in 2018 and in 2022 was elected as an artist member to the prestigious and historic Salmagundi Club in New York City.
A native of Massachusetts and a graduate of Boston University, Chana has shown her pastel works in national and international exhibitions throughout the United States including Oregon, New Mexico, Massachusetts and New York. The foundation of her practice is custom portraiture, with pieces held in private collections throughout New England and Florida. The most notable of these commissions is the cover art Chana created for the premier issue of Living Crue magazine, published in January 2022.
