Rick Murphy

Growing up in the South Shore of Massachusetts’ wonderful Crow Point community was a blessing for Rick. With picturesque views of land, water, and sky plus Boston’s majestic skyline shining on the horizon, he found many sources of inspiration from nature!  He attended the Art Institute of Boston in the early 70s majoring in Fine Art Painting. Plein air painting is a unique art form that brings together the joy of creating outdoors and a child-like sense of carefree expression.

He finds solace in his artwork dedicated to landscapes, beaches, and sweeping views of the sky. Connecting with nature’s beauty helps him stay rooted during times of hardship and chaos – it provides peace that lasts beyond any given moment. As exemplified in his painting Angel’s Play, wonderful things happen if we trust our instincts and tap into truth. Plein Air teaches us to embrace the ever-changing natural surroundings as well as its colors, so they aren’t formed out of thin air but rather experienced head-on.
