“Every time I come in contact with the Frame Center and their wonderful staff, the feeling is delight. Their commitment to building community and excellence in their craft brings light and connection to our community.”

– Jess Hurley Scott

Jess Hurley Scott’s meticulous, photorealist paintings are painted in reverse, by hand- on multiple layers of Lucite panel. Her proprietary technique of layering intricately painted panels spaced in custom framing, blur the line of two-dimensional painting and sculptural art. Illusion, perception, and underlying emotional draws of the sea and nature are all important themes. Scott uses her own photographic reference, deconstructing her composition into layers utilizing translucency and depth to create her own reality and a unique interpretation of landscape.

Scott has exhibited in various galleries and museums including the Woodward Gallery in New York, NY, the Massachusetts State House, Boston City Hall, the New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain, CT, The Mystic Art Museum Gallery, Mystic, CT, Lassell University, Newton, MA, The Art Complex Museum, Duxbury, MA and the Muscarelle Museum of Art at William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA and a permanent installation at Boston Logan International Airport. She was the Artist in Residence at the South Shore Art Center from 2019-2022 and two time resident at the Pouch Cove Foundation, Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, Canada. She is featured at the Woodward Gallery in New York, NY, the Savage Godfrey Gallery in Norwell, MA, Rusticator, Seal Harbor, ME, and James Baird Gallery, Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, Canada.
