Jess Hurley Scott: This Place, This Hour
February 21 – May 9, 2027
Jess Hurley Scott creates dimensional paintings that explore light, illusion, and perception through layered acrylic panels painted in reverse. Working with multiple translucent surfaces, she produces luminous compositions that blur the boundary between painting and sculpture, inviting viewers to look beneath the surface and experience shifting depths of image and color. Influenced by the sea, landscape, and the changing properties of water, Scott’s work balances precision with atmosphere, clarity with distortion, and stillness with movement. Her process draws on a background in design and product development, combining technical experimentation with painterly sensitivity. The result is a distinctive body of work that is both visually striking and meditative, reflecting her ongoing fascination with translucency, impermanence, and the power of light to transform perception.
