Art gives me the power to connect with people from a very personal space

My work ranges from realistic landscapes to total abstraction, depending on where I am and what my mood is at the time.

What’s the story behind your work?

When I started painting, almost 50 years ago, I was told to find “my style” and stick to it. I feel that I am still “evolving,” and how I approach my subject can vary depending on how I “see” things that day.

What do you hope people feel when they see it?

That I am making a very personal statement that makes them happy.

How does your work connect or bring people together?

Although we are all unique, we can share an interest in a subject through different interpretations.

Who helped you along the way?

Instructors and friends who encouraged me to keep looking deeper into personal ways to communicate my observation of a subject.

How do you give back / support others?

I have been President or on the Board of the Copley Society, the New England Watercolor Society, and the North River Arts Society, and have been on committees of several other organizations. I taught watercolor and acrylic classes for @ 45 years and now share what I‘ve learned with groups (both adult and children) as vehicles for art therapy.
