Susan Lefevre is an abstract painter based in Plymouth, MA. Trained in oil painting and deeply influenced by Asian calligraphy and spiritual symbolism, she now works largely in acrylic on plexiglass and aluminum, often painting on both sides of the surface so that layers reveal themselves in unexpected ways. Her work balances minimalism and gesture, control and spontaneity. “Sometimes the crosses or symbols just appear,” she says. “I don’t plan them, but they become part of the story.”
Susan meets weekly with her mentor, German-born artist Bernd Haussmann, has served as a docent at the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury, and has exhibited across Cape Cod and the South Shore. For Susan, “arting” extends to every part of her life. It is how she engages with the world and comes to understand herself and others.
