Lori Fopiano is an abstract painter based in Marshfield, on the South Shore of Massachusetts. Working in acrylic on canvas, she builds each painting in layers of texture, color and shape, focusing on abstract landscapes and non-representational work drawn from memory, light and the coastal places she calls home.

Art was a lifelong passion that Lori kept alive through a long career in another field. Encouraged by her parents as a child, she learned in an older artist’s home studio as a young mother, and after retiring she returned to painting in earnest. She started in realism and moved toward abstraction to express what a literal image couldn’t. Today she takes classes at regional art centers, meets weekly with a group of fellow artists for critique, and donates work to local exhibitions and charities.
